Luc Mehl’s BMX racing roots reemerge on dusty corners. After landing in Mexico City, we bought the cheapest geared bikes we could find and pedaled first to 18,491 ft Orizaba, summited the volcano, then pedaled three days more to the putin of the Rio Barranca Grande, handed the bikes to coffee farmers, packrafted jungle whitewater to the Gulf of Mexico, and finally hitchhiked and bussed back to Mexico City, all for less than $1000 USD.
