The other night I was trying to describe a particularly hard-charging acquaintance to a much more conservative friend and said something about him having an especially high tolerance for risk and suffering. “That’s funny. That’s how I describe you to other people,” my friend replied. And that’s funny to me because I don’t see myself (or Noah for that matter) as being “insane” but in my head I have my own group about whom I say “Oh yeah, they’re crazy. Total tweakers.”

Maybe we just think we’re closer to the middle of the bell curve than we actually are.
